Arianism
Arianism is a theological position attributed to Arius of Alexandria (ca. 250-ca. 336) that concerns the person of Jesus Christ (Christology). According to Arius, although Jesus Christ was truly human, he was not truly divine. Arius based this teaching on a fundamental understanding of the absolute supremacy of "God the Father," such that "God the Son" necessarily implied inferiority thereto. Arianism was condemned as heretical at the First Council of Nicaea (325).
