Deism
Deism names the rational belief that God has remained distant from Creation, allowing it to play out as it will according to certain "natural laws" woven into its very fabric. In this view, which was especially prevalent in 18th century England, God neither guides nor intervenes in Creation. When applied to the created world, reason alone could perfectly deduce God's existence and nature. Indeed, Deists often repudiated the Incarnation as supernatural (i.e., irrational) and superfluous to Christianity.
